This exceptional festival, now in its 10th year, features some of the best musicians this side of the Mississippi, playing every iteration of Bluegrass, Americana, Old-Timey, Acoustic and Folk music. Held each year on the Johnson County Fairgrounds, this community event brings in hundreds of revelers each year, all hoping to enjoy some incredible live music.

Music Festivities That We Highly Recommend at the Big Horn Mountain Festival
Over the course of the festival, there will be plenty of musical fun and competitions packed in. Make sure to watch the Wyoming Mandolin and Bando Championships and the Old Time Fiddle Contest. It’s pure adrenaline!
And we also recommend checking out the guitar contest as well, with the winners of the mandolin, banjo and fiddle contest heading on to appear at the Walnut Valley Festival contests in Winfield, Kansas.
And don’t miss the Band Scramble on Saturday afternoon.
The event will even feature a number of instrument raffles as well as food and craft vendors, a pancake breakfast and plenty of jamming. So make sure your calendar is cleared for the weekend because there is going to be no shortage of fun that weekend!
You might even consider bringing your tent or camper so that you can revel a true festival experience. After all, the fun doesn’t have to stop just because the sun is going down over the horizon.
Kids Learn a Little Bluegrass Too
Have a child that seems to be the next big thing in bluegrass music? Develop that talent by taking them to the bluegrass and folk music program for children ages 9 to 19.
Organized and taught by the members of The Barefoot Movement (a revered and award-winning band), this program teaches children a wide range of skills on such instruments as the guitar, bass, banjo, fiddle and vocals.
