Here in Sheridan, WY, we love the great outdoors and spending time adventuring in nature. But sometimes, getting outside just isn’t possible. Normally, Sheridan’s restaurants, shops, galleries, and other entertainment spots would offer plenty of inside options, but with closures and social distancing ordinances restricting business, it’s a bit more difficult to find indoor activities to keep you entertained!
Fortunately, we’ve got some solutions.
Survive Social Distancing with Indoor Activities in Sheridan
Staying in doesn’t have to mean being bored! There are plenty of ways to stay entertained, connected, and happy in one of America’s most beautiful Old West towns. There are a number of ways to have fun without ever leaving home—whether you enjoy Sheridan’s access to high-speed fiber optic internet or you’re a little more removed from it all.
Here are a few of our favorite ideas.
Read a good book from a seat with a view
You don’t have to be outside in Sheridan to enjoy the breathtaking natural beauty that awaits from just about every angle. Find a seat in your home with a view, and curl up with a good book.
Don’t have a book? If you’ve got internet access, you can borrow a book online for free from a number of virtual libraries, or if you’re a member of the Sheridan Public Library, you can borrow books using Overdrive. If you’re an avid reader, you can even sign up for a free trial subscription to a paid service like Kindle Unlimited or Scribd.
Host a virtual game night or happy hour
Feeling far from friends? Schedule a virtual hang out! Pick a video chat app—like Zoom, FaceTime, or Google Hangouts—and schedule a time for everyone to sign on. You can try playing online games (like Jackbox Games or Houseparty) or simply talk and catch up.
Take a free online class
Always wanted to learn a new skill? Now’s the time! You can find hundreds, if not thousands, of free or reduced price classes and workshops online. Sites like Coursera will allow you to audit college classes (for free) or earn certificates (for a small fee). Harvard University is even offering free classes for a limited time!
Go on a scenic drive through Sheridan
Technically, a scenic drive isn’t an indoor activity, but it’s definitely socially distanced, and out of the elements, too. Take a drive through Downtown Sheridan. Hop on the Bighorn Scenic Byway for some of the most breathtaking mountain views of Fallen City, Sibley Lake, and the Little Tongue River. Lastly, take Medicine Wheel Pass toward the town of Lovell for some truly dazzling views of the Bighorn Basin.
Declutter & clean your home
Is decluttering everyone’s favorite fun home activity? Probably not. But if you’re stuck inside with a little extra free time, using some of that time to organize your home can be pretty rewarding in the long run. Too much clutter can make it hard to find things, can make your home feel small or crowded, and can even make cleaning more difficult. And who knows, when cleaning out your closet or attic, you might even find some belongings or old memorabilia you’ve completely forgotten about!
Decluttering and cleaning is also a great first step if you’re thinking of making a move in the future. When selling a home, you definitely want to remove any excess clutter and spend some extra time cleaning and polishing areas you might normally overlook.
