The Fine Points of Forever West
The Forever West Songwriter Festival brings songwriting icons from all over the map to the beautiful landscape of Bighorn Mountain Country. This four-day festival features both legendary songwriters who are recognized among the masses and homegrown talent from right here in Wyoming. The special events throughout the weekend will take place in the Bighorn Mountains and in the heart of downtown Sheridan.

The schedule
Starting on Thursday night at Spear-O Wigwam Mountain Resort, Forever West’s opening night will be in full force. On this night, songwriters can socialize under the stars while marveling at Spear-O’s surrounding natural beauty. The following day, festival-goers will spend Friday evening listening to legendary songwriters perform at the WYO Theater. Then, Saturday’s festivities will begin with a special performance from local Wyoming icons, followed by an encore from the legendary songwriters that evening.
The venues
Imagine listening to live music against the backdrop of the breathtaking Bighorn National Forest at 8,300-feet above sea level—now, come and do just that at Forever West. The festival’s opening night events will take place on Spear-O’s 16-acre mountain resort, where backcountry camping meets lakefront living.
The WYO Theater will house the remaining weekend events in its historic downtown Sheridan location. The WYO was originally built in 1923 as a vaudeville theater, then closed its doors in 1982 after nearly 60 years of entertaining Sheridan residents. Since reopening in 1989 as a roadhouse, the WYO has brought hundreds of hours of live entertainment to the community, in addition to hosting a number of local events.

The main purpose of Forever West has always been, and always will be, to celebrate songwriters. The festival highlights the exquisite works of songwriters while also honoring Wyoming’s western heritage. The festival’s five-star lineup includes songwriters Cory Leone Johnson, Frank Myers, Anthony Smith, Wynn Varble, Brice Long, Sarah Sample, Dugan Irby, and Malik Grant. These artists have written chart-topping hits for the likes of Brad Paisley, Lonestar, George Strait, Garth Brooks, Chris Young, Hank Williams Jr, Reba McEntire, and Chris Stapleton.
