As the leaves turned and Halloween approaches, Sheridan County buzzed with excitement thanks to the inaugural statue decorating contest organized by Sage Community Arts. The theme was all about Halloween costumes, inspiring local businesses to unleash their creativity and transform statues into festive, spooky characters. With this being the first year of the contest, there was hope that everyone would be inspired by the creativity on display and want to join in next year!
Century 21 BHJ Joins in on the Fun
Century 21 BHJ decorated two statues outside their building: one of a dog and another of a child holding a plane. For the contest, these statues were transformed into a king and a superhero, bringing a whimsical twist to the original figures. Their designs not only captured the spirit of the holiday but also showcased their commitment to community engagement. Many residents enjoyed checking out their whimsical creations as they strolled through the town!
The Voting Process
Voting for the contest took place from October 25th to the 27th. Community members cast their $1 votes by either Venmoing the amount or stopping by Sage Community Arts. Every dollar raised went directly to supporting local artists and expanding Sage’s sculpture programs. It was a great way to give back while enjoying the incredible artistry on display!
A Showcase of Creativity
The contest featured a delightful array of creative costumes from various local businesses. From ghoulish goblins to enchanting witches, each statue reflected the diverse talent within the community. It was a true celebration of artistic expression and community spirit!
