In Sheridan County, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, and it all starts with early education. The WREN Foundation is dedicated to giving children in our community the best possible start in life by ensuring they have access to the tools and resources they need to thrive—starting at birth. One of the foundation’s most impactful programs is focused on early literacy, providing children with free books every month to help them develop a love of reading and set the stage for academic success.
Since its founding in 2016, the WREN Foundation has made incredible strides in supporting local children and families. Parents register their children through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The program is free for all children, from birth to age 5. This initiative has already mailed out 50,000 books and helped create 1,500 home libraries for families across the region.
The Importance of Early Literacy
Research shows that children who are exposed to books and reading before school are more likely to excel academically. Early literacy not only helps children develop language skills but also sparks their imagination and fosters a love of learning that will serve them throughout their education. The WREN Foundation is making an enormous impact by ensuring that children in Sheridan County, regardless of their family’s financial situation, have the opportunity to start school prepared and eager to learn.
How You Can Make a Difference
The WREN Foundation is hosting a fundraising event on January 25th at The Barn in Big Horn in Big Horn, WY from 6:30-10:00 PM to support its efforts. Enjoy live music, delicious food, and a silent auction, all while contributing to a cause that helps local children thrive. Tickets are $75 per person, which sponsors two children for a full year of books. The event’s goal is to raise $35,000 to continue expanding the foundation’s programs and impact.
